QuackIndex ("we," "our," "us") built this app to bring scattered duck-hunting intelligence — weather, water, wind, terrain, and regulations — into one place. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how it's used. We don't sell your data, and we don't run ads or analytics SDKs that track you across other apps or websites.

When you create an account we collect your email address, a display name, and a password (stored only as a salted hash — we never see or store your password in plain text). This is used to sign you in and to identify your saved spots, journal entries, and subscription.

When you add a hunting spot, you can drop a pin, drag it, or search a city/state. If you choose "Use Current Location," we ask iOS for a one-time read of your device's GPS position to prefill the map — we don't track your location continuously or in the background, and we don't store a location history. Only the final spot you save (its coordinates and the name you give it) is stored on our servers, tied to your account, so we can pull weather, water, and regulations data for that spot.

Entries you write in the Hunt Journal (notes, harvest counts, species, ratings, dates) are stored on our servers under your account. If you tap "Analyze my hunts," the text of your journal entries is sent on-demand to Anthropic's AI API to look for patterns — this only happens when you request it, and the request does not include your name, email, or account ID, only the journal content itself.

Pro subscriptions are handled through Apple's In-App Purchase system via RevenueCat, using your app account ID — we don't send RevenueCat your email or name. If you subscribe or manage billing through our website instead of the App Store, we use Stripe to process that payment, which requires sharing your email address with Stripe to create and manage your billing account. We never see or store your card details ourselves.

To show conditions for your spot, we send its coordinates (not your identity) to third-party weather and water-data providers. To turn a city/state search into coordinates, we send that search text to a geocoding provider. These requests don't include your email, name, or account ID — just the location information needed to answer the request.

We log basic, first-party page-view data (the page visited, referring page, and a one-way hash of your IP address combined with your browser's user-agent string — we don't store your raw IP address) to understand how the app is used and to catch problems. This stays on our own servers; we don't use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and the data tied to it from the Account screen in the app. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage or cancel Apple subscriptions separately through your Apple ID.

QuackIndex is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
