Tap "+ Add my hunting spot" at the top of the Dashboard, or use "Current Location" to score wherever you are right now. You can save up to 5 spots and switch between them anytime.

It's a 0–100 number built from 3 things, each with a real, fixed weight. If it's shown, it counts — nothing on the Dashboard is there just for decoration. Duck Movement (50%) — weather severity, wind push, and season timing, including blue-winged teal's own early-September window, plus a real barometric-pressure signal. Right under it on the Dashboard, you'll see exactly what's driving that number: Freeze Severity, Temperature Trend, and Pressure Trend. Water Conditions (30%) — the nearest reliable USGS gauge, or the nearest NOAA tide station on open coastline. Rising or flooded water usually means better feeding habitat. Huntable Wind (20%) — current speed and direction for decoy conditions. A steady breeze scores best; dead calm or gusty extremes score lower. That's the whole formula — no hidden factors, no toggle to dig through to see what's counted.

Think of the message under your score as answering "is this even the season, and if so, how's today?" 📅 Off-season — "Good day to scout" No real duck movement expected. Use the day to check water, access, and blind locations instead of hunting. 🌲 Early or late season — "Keep an eye on this spot" This isn't peak timing for most ducks yet — but early migrators like teal can move through in real numbers before the main season even opens. Treat this as "stay sharp," not "nothing's happening." 🦆 In season Now the message is about today specifically, not the calendar — a confident "Worth the trip" on a strong day, a realistic "Huntable, but expect work" on a mixed one, or "Better day to scout" when today just isn't shaping up.

That means it's outside the general duck season for your spot's state. Duck Movement (50% of the score) is held to a flat low baseline rather than reacting to weather — weather alone isn't presented as active migration outside the season. Water Conditions and Huntable Wind still reflect real, current readings and still count toward the number.

Three zoom tiers for the same movement data — Migration Front is the widest regional view, Regional Scout narrows to your area, and Blind & Local zooms to your exact spot. Each shows live wind-direction arrows and the hard freeze line where relevant.

A Pro feature that lets you pick any date in the last year and see the score and movement map reconstructed for that exact day at your saved spot — same score formula, same hard freeze line, built from historical weather instead of a live forecast. It's a fast way to compare early, mid, and late season at a spot before you commit to a trip. Water conditions aren't available for past dates, since there's no historical gauge reading to reconstruct.

Radar-based tools like BirdCast detect all birds aloft — songbirds, geese, ducks, everything — not species-specific movement. There's no reliable way to isolate "ducks" from that signal alone, especially outside peak fall migration when other birds dominate the same radar returns. Instead, QuackIndex tracks the conditions that actually drive duck movement directly: freeze conditions pushing birds off frozen water and feeding habitat, incoming weather pattern changes, and wind support for southbound flight. That gives a more duck-relevant signal than a general biological-movement radar tool built for all species combined.

Season dates, bag limits, and species rules are pulled from official state wildlife agency sources for your saved spot's state, with citations linked on the Regulations tab. Always confirm the linked official rule before you hunt — regulations can change.

Log your hunts and scouting visits — date, birds observed, notes on water/access/activity. Once you have a few entries, "Analyze my hunts" uses AI to look for patterns across your own logs: what conditions actually produce your best hunts.

On a monthly plan, the current month is already paid and non-refundable; cancelling stops the next month from billing. On an annual plan, the current year is already paid and non-refundable; cancelling stops the next year from billing. Either way, you keep Pro access through the end of the period you already paid for.
